A Season of Discovery

Message from the Vice President

While summer is off to a good start and the Park is really starting to feel busy, there is no doubt this season has a different feel than most. It is a little sad to walk the quiet grounds and empty lobby of Jackson Lake Lodge or drive by Jenny Lake Lodge and see barriers up to prevent entry. However, it has also been great to see Colter Bay, Flagg Ranch, Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis, and some of our other operations welcoming visitors.

Ordinarily we make it a priority to celebrate the milestones of each season through various events. Both formal and informal, these gatherings have been a big part of our recognition program to convey how much we appreciate all that you do for GTLC, Flagg Ranch, and Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis Club. Currently though, protocols and best practices to prevent the spread of COVID-19 make such events either impossible or unadvisable to host.

While I look forward to reinstating many of these traditions in future seasons, we’ve challenged ourselves to discover new ways of engaging and recognizing our team and live our Have Fun core value.

In that spirt, we are excited to launch a new experience called “A Season of Discovery”. It’s a season-long game (much like a scavenger hunt) with “missions” I hope will help you have fun connecting with one-another while discovering the remarkable area in which we all live and work.

The game will go live this Saturday June 27th and run through September 18th. Individuals and teams may join at any time throughout the season. We have created a handful of missions to get started, and additional missions with opportunities to win cash and prizes will be added regularly. Ultimately, an overall winning team or individual will be awarded a prize of $1,000 cash.

The game is managed through an App called GooseChase, and requires a smartphone or tablet device. If you do not have a device or transportation (which will help with some missions) you can team up with others to combine resources. You are also free to be a “team of one” if you prefer to go it alone. Instructions for how to get started can be found below.

Good luck, and while playing please Have Fun, but don’t forget to Be Safe (stay on trails, carry bear spray, don’t approach wildlife, don’t hike alone), and Do Right (no cheating).
