Epic Adventure

Where's Skippy?

About the Game - June 1st - September 15th

Some of you may be wondering about the title of this webpage…while those of you that were here last season may know the legend of “Skippy the Gnome”. In 2020 we introduced a season long game that we called “A Season of Discovery”. It was similar to a scavenger hunt and contained a series of “missions” that involved hikes and other outdoor activities, trivia and a few challenges that simply tested a team’s creativity. There were weekly challenges with prizes and a final challenge that involved finding a lost garden gnome named Skippy...who ultimately went missing and remains at large.

For 2021 we’ve built upon the success of “A Season of Discovery” and have created what we’re calling “Epic Adventure- Where's Skippy?”. Epic Adventure will have more hikes, more trivia, more cash and prizes and yes…more gnomes! We’re bringing back many of last year’s favorite missions, but also adding many more. We’ll be awarding prizes for the top three teams overall, but even if you aren’t competing for the overall title there are plenty of opportunities to score cash and prizes through the weekly challenges.

The game will go live Tuesday, June 1st and run through September 15th. Individuals and teams may join at any time throughout the season. Be strategic when creating your team as there will be different categories based around hiking, creativity and trivia. It may also help to have a team member with transportation. We have created the majority of missions to get started, and additional missions with opportunities to win cash and prizes will be added regularly. In total there are thousands of dollars of cash and prizes up for grabs…plus you’ll get out and explore your new home and surrounding area.

1st Place: $1,500 cash prize

2nd Place: $750 cash prize

3rd Place: $500 cash prize

The game is managed through an App called GooseChase, and requires a smartphone or tablet device. If you do not have a device or transportation (which will help with many missions) you can team up with others to combine resources. You are also free to be a “team of one” if you prefer to go it alone. Instructions for how to get started can be found below.

Good luck, and while playing please Have Fun, but don’t forget to Be Safe (stay on trails, carry bear spray, don’t approach wildlife, don’t hike alone), and Do Right (no cheating).

Participants can join the game at any time by following these simple steps:

1. Download the GooseChase iOS or Android app.

2. Choose to play as a guest, or register for a personal account with a username & password of your choice.

3. Search for and select the Epic Adventure game, or search by game code: Skippy

4. Follow the prompts to select or create a team. If the team has an access code, they will need to enter it here.

Might also help to have someone with transportation.)

  • All submitted photos will be audited before awarding points.

  • For photo submissions we ask that you create a team mascot/logo/symbol to be visible in each photo (even if you draw it and hold it up on a sign), snap a photo with the Where's Skippy sticker visible (maybe put it on a water bottle as a prop) or if you happen to forget any of these things make sure the photo is taken with your hands above your heads.

  • Participation must not interfere with regularly scheduled work duties.

  • Prizes will only be awarded to active employees in good standing.

  • While all employees are welcome and encouraged to play, senior leadership will be excluded from receiving prizes.

Update 8/18

In weekly challenge #12 bonus points are up for grabs for answering the question correctly. This could give your team an advantage when it comes to points. Reminder that there are a few other bonus points up for grabs that gets paid out towards the end of the game. Namely the Aye Aye Cap-Tain! Challenge will award 200 points to the team with the best bottle cap creation, Doppleganger gives out 300 points to the greatest likeness and there will be opportunities to earn a few more bonus points before the end of the game. So if you are at the top of the ranks be sure to pay attention to these bonus points as to not be surprised by the game outcome. If you don’t think your current submissions have what it takes to earn these points you can always resubmit.

A Little Gnome Organization will be conducting a detailed audit on the final points and submissions of the top teams to make sure all photo submissions include the team symbols and if they do not that proof of documentation of a date within the challenge is provided. We will also be making sure that each submission submitted was completed in full. We want this game to be fair. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to bring these to our attention by emailing gtlchr@vailresorts.com

Happy Hunting and only 28 days left in the game.
